Mustaches & Pies

So you might be wondering what Pie and Mustaches have in common... Everything!!  So thing year we opted to bring one of our wonderful Yankee traditions to the south this year and wanted to give all of our friends here to partake!  We had a "Pie Bake Off!”  You know we’re always up for a little healthy competition :)  And what better way to kick of the holidays than drastically bump up your caloric intake for the day?!

It took place this past Saturday, November 6th at 6 pm.  All girls present brought a pie of their choice and all men present were judges.  Costumes, i.e. mustaches etc, were be provided for the judges so that if one of the judges had a significant other in the competition they would be in disguise and would NOT feel obligated to vote their mates pie.  For the mere purpose of making things completely fair and that the best baker win!  Or because it would be fun to see them in ridiculous costumes because we spent hours on end baking the most remarkable and astounding pie, ha!  Pink & Blue chocolate mustaches will be provided for kiddos :)

P.S.  I cannot take full credit for this idea.  I must give credit where credit is due and the Great Deb thought up the whole costume concept! Who else right?!? Gotta love her!!

Should you want to bring this great fun to your home here are some FAQ's and the rules we abide to:

-Are non-dessert pies allowed? Yes
- Can your husband bake your pie for you?  Yes.  But sshhh, don't tell, might take some points off his masculinity count.
- Is cheesecake considered a pie? Yes, just about anything in a pie pan, cobbler, cheesecake etc...
- What if it needs to be warm?  You can re-warm it in my oven :)
- How does judging work?  Men will be the judges (and any females if you choose not to be a baker), they will be supplied with mustache or some sort of paraphernailia to disquies themself, and then they will taste each pie entry and rate on a scale from 1 to 4 (4 being the best).    We will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
-How will they test the pies?  I will have small cups for each of you to cut/put a small piece of pie into then we will have all the judges test one pie at a time.
- Are store bought pies allowed?  Sorry no.
